| Summary: |
When Babu Ramdas' handsome son Ashok came to Madhuban as the new Postmaster, he was first greeted by Bela the old Postman's daughter who was always out for new mischief.
In the beginning her pranks and jokes unnerved Asho; but soon he too liked her; he enjoyed her jokes; and he was attracted by her naive charm. Bela, who could not fathom his deep emotions, misunderstood his liking for some-thing else.
Usha the beautiful daughter of Madhuban's biggest Zaminder lived in the same village; she used to sniff at Ashok, as "Dak Babu" but when on her birthday she heard his beautiful voice, she was completely entranced by him. And Ashok too, was glad, so much so that when pressed by his daughter, the Zaminder, asked him to teach her music, he readily accepted the offer. These new developments were not to Bela's likings. But confident of Ashok's love for herself, she went straight to Usha and warned her not to run after a man who had already given his heart to someone else. Shocked, Usha stopped meeting Ashok and agreed to marry the youth selected by her father. Meanwhile, this shock was also unbareable to Ashok who fell ill. As his condition became helpless, Bela realized the truth. She became aware of the fact that so far she was deceiving hereself and that Ashok loved Usha. So she again rushed to Usha and told her the truth.
By this time, the marriage preparations were complete. Yet, Usha did not lose hope; she bluntly told her father that she would not marry. But was reply could she give to Ashok who averred that the honour of parents must be precedence before love and that on no account marriage must stop?
What an unfortunate trio; Bela, Ashok and Usha, all of them were sailing the same boat. Would their boat sink? or would they be saved? see it for yourself on the screen. |
